The challenge

During the early 2020, Unifeeder acquired new business-units in India and Singapore. Therefore, they needed a fast and effective solution for allowing new employees access to the Unifeeder it-infrastructure.

In response to this, VENZO assisted Unifeeder with implementing a Virtual Data Center in Microsoft Azure. The purpose of this was a deployment of a Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) solution. WVD is cost-effective, flexible, simple, and fast solution for it-management.

Ensuring organizational productivity

The employees in the Singapore branch needed quick access to the it-infrastructure, as it is highly important for the operations and productivity to have access to the business-critical applications SoftShip and Navision. Therefore, WVD was an optimal solution, because when implementing WVD Unifeeder’s infrastructure could be accessed without connecting to the Unifeeder network or by using a VPN-connection.

By utilizing WVD clients can access internal resources regardless of location. The only requirement is a HTML5 browser. The solution gives access to company applications and is easily accessed from anywhere. It is the only solution that supports Windows 10 multiuser sessions.

WVD only takes a couple of days to configure, and when it is completed, the deployment of desktops to new users, development, test, and external users is fast. Finally, it is a very cost-efficient solution when using pooled desktops.

Therefore, at VENZO we want to be end-to-end partners. Hence the solution was based on an early problem definition and environment analysis workshop in collaboration with Unifeeder technicians. From the findings we were able to design and implement the solution, which had several embedded outcomes.

The outcomes included a configuration of Azure from scratch as well as the WVD configuration. Additionally, it included creation of virtual machines, automation scripts and documentation. These outcomes created a holistic solution, that could be adapted in the organization.
