A digital solution to food waste
In today’s digital age, technology offers a great potential to tackle social and environmental issues. One such issue is food waste, a problem that affects communities worldwide. While digital solutions may not hold all the answers, they represent a crucial step forward in the fight against food waste.
Recently, VENZO took a proactive approach by dedicating a full day to assist Stop Spild Lokalt, a leading Danish food waste organization, on their digitalization journey.
Stop Spild Lokalt has already started a digitalization journey recognizing the potential of technology and has developed a new app to support their volunteers in collecting and registering surplus food from over 30 local food banks across Denmark. This initiative aims not only to streamline their operations but also to harness data for better decision-making in reducing food waste.
VENZO’s team of experienced IT and business consultants played a pivotal role in this endeavor. They provided technical assistance, advice, and donated essential IT equipment to facilitate the integration of the new app into the food banks’ workflow.
On the ground, VENZO’s team worked closely with volunteers, helping them set up IT equipment and transition from manual processes to the digital platform. This hands-on approach ensured a smooth adoption of the new technology, despite the inevitable learning curve.
Moreover, VENZO offered valuable insights on further digitalization strategies to enhance Stop Spild Lokalt’s impact both locally and on a larger scale.

Stop Spild Lokalt’s mission is not only about rescuing surplus food but also about nourishing communities and reducing food insecurity. Through their daily efforts, they save over 30 tons of food, equivalent to more than 75,000 meals, benefiting vulnerable individuals across Denmark.
